How can I protect my home from high pressure in the water system?
The Agency will attempt to maintain service facility pressure under normal conditions within a range of forty (40) to one hundred twenty (120) pounds per square inch. There will be conditions that will develop where the pressure will fall below or exceed that pressure range. All customers agree, when accepting water service from the agency to their premises, that they will hold the agency harmless for any damage or loss that may occur as a result of these low or high pressure conditions. Therefore, it is strongly recommended by the Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency that each customer install and maintain a pressure reducing valve both at the customer side of the meter and at the dwelling that is serviced by the meter.
How can I reduce my water bill?
Unseen or unfixed leaks can drip hundreds, even thousands of gallons of water wastefully down the drain. A little detective work several times a year can catch these water thieves in the act and put them out of circulation. The toilet is one of the most common water wasters but its leaks tend to be less noticeable than faucet leaks. To determine if your toilet is leaking, look at the toilet bowl after the tank has stopped running into the bowl. If you still see or hear water running, your toilet is leaking. Leak detection dye tablets are available at the Agency upon request. Additionally, the Agency will provide at no charge a Water Awareness Survey to assist you in determining if you have a leak. Simply call our office at 364-2315 to request this service at no cost to you.
When do we get our customer deposit back?
When an account is opened the Agency Rules and Regulations for Water Service require a $100.00 deposit for services that are provided in advance of billing. This serves as a security deposit. To have your deposit applied to your outstanding balance you must achieve a state of "credit worthiness". Credit worthiness is accomplished by maintaining a period of two years of good payment history with no more than one delinquency. Further you must not have any non-sufficient funds checks nor any lock-offs for non-payment. If you have questions regarding the status of your payment history and would like more information about having your deposit applied to your account's outstanding balance please call the office at 364-2315.
